*For the Trumpeter Soviet JS-1 Heavy Tank TRU05587 (Recommended)
*For Tamiya Russian Heavy Tank JS-2 Model 1944 ChKz TA35289 *(Diameter of the turret opening needs to be enlarged by about 0.25mm)
This conversion will consist of resin, wire, and brass parts, allowing you to construct one turret containing a 152mm howitzer.
This turret was constructed to represent a theoretical artillery version of a Soviet JS-1 tank. This conversion has been designed to look like one of the initial versions that would have first saw combat during the fall of 1943.
Recommended to use one of the 1/35th scale JS-1 or JS-2 kits with the earlier KV-13 type frontal hull. A later JS-2 with the UZTM or “Roman Nose” frontal hull can also be used as numerous photos of hybrid T-34 and KV tanks containing later or older turrets exist.
If you are using the Tamiya kit, you will need to carefully widen the opening in the hull using a rounded file to have the turret fit and sit properly on top of the model.
Inside Adam Wilder ́s book (Layering Techniques) can be seen a detailed process of the construction and painting of this tank.
